I think I am battling the syndrome non stop. Just become much more aware of it which helps and trying to find where it comes from which is almost always childhood!

That's a smart way to go about it. Finding the root cause so you can address it directly instead of just treating the symptoms.

Great reminder! I'm restarting this week, so this was just in time :)

Grrrrreat news

Good reminder that the people actually doing the work are usually too busy improving to waste time tearing others down

Juan Gonzalez's avatar

Very well put it, Petar.

The ones trying to put others down aren’t doing anything productive and maybe that’s why they have so much time for it.

keeping a "wall of love" of screenshots of people thanking you for your work, to revisit during darker times

Juan Gonzalez's avatar

Ahhh yess, that’s a more visual way of doing it.

Funny enough I didn’t thought it would help until I screenshotted a couple of tweets and DM’s for testimonial purposes. It ended up being more useful for me 😆

The people who worry most about being frauds are rarely the ones I'm worried about.

That sounds like a play on words but it’s actually very true.

That voice in the back of your head is alaways there in some shape or form... Accept it but don't be fooled by it. Great piece man!

Juan Gonzalez's avatar

That's right. It is always there and we have to be mindful of not being tricked by it. Thanks for the comment, Joel.

The voice in your head saying you're not ready or that big accomplishments aren't for people like you is straight up lying.

Juan Gonzalez's avatar

Now it looks like a great quotable piece. 😆

I’ve noticed that the voice is all about visibility. It shows up most when something feels exposed or public, not necessarily when it’s hard. It always hits me right before pitches, ugh! Also agree that most people are too busy dealing with their own stuff to actually be evaluating you that closely. The tech bros have their own shit going on. It just doesn’t feel that way in your head when it’s happening.

Wishing you a good week ahead Juan.

That’s a really great point, Neela! And I feel most people can relate to that.

It’s when we are going to do work that others can see or when we’re going for that next level of development that would make us more visible.

Thanks for the good wishes, deff needed this week.
