In the first official edition of this year:
Where I’ve been the past 3 months.
What I’m experimenting with.
A question for you to ponder.
With that said…
Let’s go.
Main quest 🛡
This year started out pretty different.
Instead of being like a continuation of everything from the past one, I feel it’s been a big jump.
It’s what Ben Hardy talks about in his book “10x is easier than 2x“. To make a qualitative jump you have to let go of 80% of what you’ve been doing and focus on the important 20%.
For the past year I’ve been optimizing my life for ever-growing independence and self-reliance.
Part of that means not depending on one source of income, or having the constant stress of trying out the next thing to see if it works or else I’ll be forced into a full-time job again.
So this year, I pulled the trigger…
And moved over to the countryside. 🌄
That’s something I was contemplating to do for 2 years or so already.
But last year me didn’t think it was going to be _that_ soon.
I’ve spent the past 3 months doing a reset, reboot, and getting used to a different style of life while learning a bunch of new things.
I will share with you many of those lessons I’ve had in coming issues of this newsletter.
And what’s like to go from urban to rural.
For now, here’s a sneak peek of what I can see when I go out of the house.
Quite a different view from what I’ve seen in the past year haha.
Experiments 🧪
Here’s a short summary of my experiments of this year:
Using real milk from jersey cows to make a fermented drink known as kefir, using the cream for making butter and also making attempts of cheese.
Finding out that different kinds of foods can make chickens produce eggs or nothing at all (and having to buy them elsewhere…)
Discovering different ways to use & preserve bovine colostrum to (almost) get health superpowers.
Learn how to build AI models for different tasks from scratch, in my spare time, locally, with no internet.
It’s supposed to be a short one so I’ll leave it at that.
To consider 🤔
Have you thought about alternative ways of living, different from what we know and are used to?
That’s about it for this edition.
It’s good to be back and talk with you again.
But I not only want to talk about what’s been going on with me, I also want to know what’s up with you.
So if you can reply to this email with a few lines, I’ll be super grateful. 😊
Thanks for your time. Catch you next week.
Juan.
